Applications

The Medimate can be used, amongst others, for the following applications:

Monitoring lithium with patients with Bipolar Disorder using lithium medication

Lithium monitoring By measuring lithium, creatinine and kidney function in finger prick blood.

Treatment of patients with bipolar disorder on lithium medication can be supported by point of care and self-test monitoring at the physician or at a patient's home.

Early detection of dehydration with Total Parenteral Nutrition

Dehydration control By measuring sodium in urine.

By measuring the concentration of sodium in urine, dehydration can be detected and timely prevented. This can be done by patients at home or by their GP. For example, patients with total parenteral nutrition would benefit from timely detection of dehydration to avoid hospital admissions.

Reduce high blood pressure through rapid control of salt intake

Diet monitoring By measuring sodium, potassium and creatinine in urine.

Preventing high blood pressure reduces the risk of heart and kidney damage. Elevated salt intake by eating salty foods can cause high blood pressure. To lower blood pressure a low-salt diet is recommended. With the Medimate it is possible to verify the salt intake to determine how much salt you ate previous day.

Reduce the risk of kidney failure through rapid control of low-salt diet

Diet monitoring By measuring sodium, potassium and creatinine in urine.

A low-salt diet is used to relieve the kidneys. With the Medimate it is possible to verify the salt intake to determine how much salt you ate previous day. The measurement provides feedback on the low-salt diet and motivates the patient to eat less salt.

Reduce the risk of drug poisoning with renal failure

Medication control Door By measuring kidney function, creatinine and potassium in blood.

When prescribing medication for patients with renal failure, it is important to monitor creatinine and renal function. For some medication it is also important to measure potassium.

Reduce the risk of drug poisoning with cardiac failure

Medication control Door het By measuring potassium and creatinine in venous blood or plasma.

When prescribing medication for patients with heart failure, it is important to verify the creatinine and potassium concentrations and kidney function. Based on the results the medication levels can be changed or altered.

Reduce the risk of medication poisoning with new medication

Medication control By measuring creatinine and kidney function in finger prick blood.

For various medications it is necessary to monitor the health of the kidneys. With the Medimate the kidney function can be checked by the doctor or pharmacist. In some cases this can also be done by the patient himself.
