Lithium PoCT/self test

Meten most patients with Bipolar Disorder are treated with lithium. A drug with important intake requirements. Between 0.4 mmol/l and 1.2 mmol/l is considered effective. Above 1.6 mmol/l the concentration is considered too high and there is a great risk of lithium poisoning with serious physical consequences. The risk of a lithium level that is too high is always present because the level is influenced by your own moisture balance. Differences in this fluid balance due to, among other things, co-medication, sweating, diarrhea or changes in kidney function can lead to unexpected changes in the lithium level and intoxication.
